
- For starters, if you’re reading this we hope you know that we have 60+ miles of paved trail for you to bike, rollerblade or take a walk/run on. The Harmony-Preston State Trail and Root River State Trail are both great opportunities to take in the beauty of our area. If you don’t have a bike, be sure to check out our Bike Share page to learn about our Bike Share Programs available in select towns along the trails.
- Fish the BEST spots on the Root River with Preston’s 9-Hole Fishing Course along the river in Preston. You can even rent fishing equipment from them right in downtown Preston.
- Visit the Peterson State Fish Hatchery and the Lanesboro State Fish Hatchery if you’re looking to learn more about our trout population. Self-guided tours available as well as guided tours by reservation.
- If you love wildlife and art, the Chisholm Valley Wildlife Art Gallery and Museum of Michael Sieve is a great stop to take while you’re in the Rushford area! Call for an appointment.
- A hike for stunning views is definitely Magelssen Bluff Park. It has 1.5 miles of looping hiking trails from Winona Street in Rushford or you can drive to the top via Hwy 30 W to Magelssen Drive.
- Hike Northwoods Hiking Trail near Peterson. A short walk to the north of the town center, hike the trail to surround yourself in wooded bluffland and enjoy amazing valley views.
- Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center has 9 miles of hiking and 3 miles of groomed ski trails for you to enjoy. A tour around Eagle Bluff’s nearly 100 acres and across adjoining public lands will take you from river bottom to blufftop to tallgrass prairie. Trails are open dawn to dusk.
- If you love a good game of golf, we have a few options for you. Harmony, Preston, Lanesboro, Rushford, and Houston all offer great golf challenges and views. And if you’re into mini-golf or disc golf, we have that too!
