Lanesboro is the "hub" of the Root River Trail System and all of its associated activities. Visitors find a thriving downtown featuring many buildings listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Lanesboro's claim to fame is Buffalo Bill Cody, a resident in the mid-1800s. An active arts community thrives here, complete with professional theatre, art galleries, and entertainment.
In 2004, Lanesboro was named a "Top 20 Dream Town" by Outside Magazine. By far, the top attraction is the Root River Trail, but Lanesboro is home to great canoeing and kayaking, fishing, hiking, and golf.
With many top lodging, dining, and shopping opportunities, a trip to Lanesboro is a must-do for trail visitors.
